At the Faculty of Science and Engineering’s Recognition Cocktail, Genium360 awarded a leadership scholarship to Sarah-Eve Fontaine (industrial engineering) to honor her commitment. This gesture is part of AGIR’s broader effort to identify and support young leaders advancing the profession and the university community. Congratulations to all recipients for their inspiring involvement.

Leadership scholarship
Université Laval
The acquisition of a digital machine tool in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at Université Laval marks a concrete advancement for the student community. This innovative tool was made possible thanks to the commitment of the engineering community, notably through the AGIR program of Genium360. It thus allows students to develop even more ambitious projects, with greater autonomy and efficiency. For Charles Clavet, director of the Laval Cargo Plane project: 'This machine is a game changer for us.' This acquisition gives a tangible boost to the innovation of the next generation.

Forging Excellence
Bridge Up is developing a reinforcement system for bridges using ultra-high performance fiber-reinforced concrete (UHPFRC) and a textile mesh, four times stronger and far more durable than current solutions. Genium360 funded $15,000 to test the method at scale in the lab (2–5 m beams) toward a real-world demonstrator. This innovation aims to extend infrastructure life, reduce repair frequency and lower the sector’s carbon footprint—addressing an urgent need for Québec’s aging road network.
Dendrometric combines computer vision and drones to identify over 200 tree species without costly sensors. Supported by a $10,000 AGIR grant, the startup aims to provide forestry technicians and engineers with reliable dendrometric data for sustainable management, biomass calculation and certification compliance. The accessible approach (using color images) eases deployment and promises a valuable traceability tool to optimize carbon management and protect biodiversity.
The CQGCh addresses the need for a technically focused competition tailored to chemical engineering industry challenges. Launched by four Polytechnique Montréal students, the first edition brought together around 100 participants for real-world tasks (bioprocess optimization, emissions reduction, regulatory adaptation). Genium360 supported logistics with a $3,000 grant to reserve rooms and design the challenges. Beyond solutions, the goal is educational: learning to structure work, collaborate and adapt—skills essential to an engineer’s career.
Regenix is developing a bioreactor capable of producing human tissues from patients’ own cells, reducing rejection risk and the wait for compatible donors. Genium360 awarded a grant for equipment purchases (non-invasive optical probes) that enable real-time monitoring of cultures. This support accelerates development of a hepatic graft as a therapeutic “bridge” and helps mature the project, driven by a multidisciplinary team (engineering, AI, pathology) committed to making hospital-based biofabrication a reality.
Thirty students from the Université de Sherbrooke are designing a liquid-propelled rocket aiming to break the world altitude record (9,200 meters) with recovery. “The Genium360 logo will appear on the Zenith rocket at launch,” confirms Guillaume Béland, the project’s technical lead.
